World Of Warcraft Class Types and Talent Tree Info

So there are 3 (you can kind of say 4) types of characters in WoW

Tank: This is meat shield you want in front of you.  The tank’s job is to make sure all the mobs (ie monsters) are hitting him.  They are built to take the damage and make sure all the mobs hate them enough to hit them only.

Healer: This is the person who keeps everyone alive.  Even though the mobs will usually be hitting the tank, there are places where your whole group or raid will be taking damage.  Healers make mobs hate them by healing damage.  It is both the tanks and the healers responsibility to make sure they do not get attention or agro from the mob.

DPS: This stands for Damage per Second.  These are the people who kill things.  Their job is to kill stuff as fast as possible before the healers run out of mana.  They also have to watch their threat because if they get the mobs attention, it is pretty much one hit and then dead.

Replenishment: This is like a sub class of DPS.  Healers fill health bars and DPS that specialize into a talent that gives replenishment fill mana bars.

Here is a breakdown of the Classes and what each talent tree is mainly for:
